Our mission - The EWR site seeks to increase access for human rights defenders of all nationalities to information and professional support for their work in Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries. The site's pages enable access to training materials, information links, professional support and country by country analysis.

EWR AND BEWC - The East West Rights website was established by The British East-West Centre (BEWC) in 2004.

BEWC is a UK-based non-profit organisation and has been working in the CIS region for over 45 years.

Information about BEWC.

The content of this site derives from BEWC’s on-going project work in international human rights law carried out with partners across the region, in particular on the training of young lawyers, NGO workers and advanced law students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

The site was created with financial support from the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Subsequent site development and ongoing maintenance are funded by BEWC in association with our sponsors.
